We’re celebrating 10 years of the Aer Lingus Art for Schools’ Competition with a once in a lifetime day trip to London for an entire primary school class.

This year’s competition challenges pupils across Northern Ireland in Primaries 4, 5, 6 and 7, to imagine and draw what the world will look like 10 years into the future in 2028.

The Aer Lingus Art for Schools Competition will see the winning class fly from George Best Belfast City Airport to London Heathrow, to spend the day at the Science Museum. The kids will take a Virtual Reality space descent with astronaut Tim Peakes and visit Tomorrow’s World.

One runner-up will take their class on a day trip to the Armagh Planetarium to learn about the solar system and space exploration.

Andrea Hunter, Business Development Manager of Aer Lingus said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering for the second year with the Irish News and Q Radio to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our Art for Schools’ Competition.

“For the last decade we have been privileged to fly hundreds of school children and their teachers to London to experience the sights and sounds of the city. Our art competition allows kids to leave school behind for a day and experience with their friends one of the most amazing cities in the world. They will carry those wonderful memories of discovery with them for the rest of their lives.

“This year we would like to see what inventions our school children think will dominate their world in the next 10 years, how technology will have evolved and what this means for them in everyday life.

The judging panel includes Andrea Hunter, Aer Lingus, John Brolly, Irish News and Stephen and Cate from Q Radio’s Breakfast Show. The judges are looking for bold imagination and eye-catching designs that jump off the page.

The deadline for competition entries is Friday 8th December 2017.
