Aer Lingus strengthens online offering with brand new website

Aer Lingus has launched a brand new aerlingus.com that will transform the online booking experience for all its smart travellers.

With 4 million website visits each month, the airline’s online retail platform, aerlingus.com, accounts for more than 80% of bookings made across its network and generates in excess of €1 billion in revenue. In Ireland and the UK, the percentage of online transactions rises to more than 90% as booking via the website is the preferred option.

As part of its new brand repositioning which launched this Spring, ‘Smart Flies Aer Lingus’, the airline is giving smart flyers a website experience that better reflects the new Aer Lingus brand. In depth consumer research was carried out to inform Aer Lingus of how to best serve guests at every step of their journey. The online booking platform was a key focus of the project as it creates a first impression for users of the new Aer Lingus brand.

New.aerlingus.com, the beta preview site, presents an entirely new website that has been completely redesigned from the ground up. With lots of smart tools and features, it will transform the online booking experience making it much more personalised for all Aer Lingus guests. The booking process has been streamlined into six simple steps, meaning managing your trip is now easier. In addition a new section full of tips, advice and inspiration for future trips should benefit guests with their travel plans.

Our new Explore tool allows you to explore destinations and options to tailor-make your next trip according to your budget, how far you wish to fly and the nature of your trip whether it be for sun, ski, to shop or a foodie experience. A simple search function makes it easy to get inspired, find out facts and even see recommendations for places to visit and things to do in over 180 destinations.

Get the best price

The Farefinder feature lets you see a full 30 days of prices in one go, so it’s easy to plan the smartest dates to travel. There is also a Pricelock feature where you can freeze any quoted short haul fare for 24 hours for €5 per flight and reserve a transatlantic fare with just a deposit.

Personalised online experience

Setting up a ‘My AerLingus’profile will make the booking process even quicker as your flight history, personal details and payment details are stored, to save you even more time and effort the next time you book. Bookings can be completed in as little as 6 steps. Your recent searches are saved and you can see all the benefits of each fare in one place. Your trip summary basket provides a clear breakdown of your entire booking in one place, so you’re sure all your flights and extras are in order.

Easy to manage bookings

Managing your booking couldn’t be simpler. You can change your details and add extra purchases like car parking, travel insurance and pre-booked meals in one simple step.

Check-in made simple

Check-in can be completed for all flights up to 30 days in advance of travel.

Aer Lingus will continue to develop and add more smart and exciting online features to really enhance aerlingus.com and to personalise our online offering. A new Aer Lingus mobile app is due to be released soon that will boast many of the key benefits of the new website.
