Choosing the eventual winner was not an easy job but the judges decided unanimously that Meabh’s design was outstanding.

The response to this years Schools’ Art Competition was incredible with talented primary four, five and six children from schools across Northern Ireland submitting their designs for a brand new uniform for Aer Lingus’ Green Spirit pilots.

Courtesy of Aer Lingus, Meabh and her class will fly from George Best Belfast City Airport to London for a day trip with their teachers. They will enjoy a flight on the world’s tallest observation wheel, the London Eye, allowing them to enjoy spectacular views across the city. They will also have the chance to visit the Sea Life London Aquarium and then they will be given the rest of the day to explore the world’s top fashion capital.

Mrs Coleman Primary Five teacher at St. Mary’s told of the excitement in her class when she revealed that they had won this year’s competition saying, “We are genuinely over the moon that we have won the competition and delighted for Meabh, she put a lot of thought and effort into her design.

“We are really excited at the prospect of planning our trip to London and would like to thank Aer Lingus and everyone else involved in the competition for making it possible.”

Andrea Hunter, Business Development Manager at Aer Lingus NI was very impressed with the winning entry. She said; “We were delighted to receive entries from schools the length and breadth of Northern Ireland and the standard this year was exceptional, as always.

“It was a difficult decision but Meabh’s design very creative and we could just imagine our pilots actually wearing her creation. The competition has given the children a chance to showcase their talents to a wider audience, and we are really proud to have helped them achieve that.

“Congratulations to Meabh and St. Mary’s Primary Five students, our lucky winners!”
