Freshly Chopped officially launches at Ulster University’s Belfast Campus

04 October 2018 by Sinead Little

Mount Charles, Ireland’s largest indigenous food service and business support services provider, officially launched its first Freshly Chopped restaurant at Ulster University’s Belfast campus on Tuesday, serving over 300 customers during the lunchtime period. Freshly Chopped’s mission is to make it as easy as possible for people to eat healthily by using the highest quality and freshest produce available. Their ‘open theatre’ of food offers a ‘create your own salad’ experience in front of the customer, where more than 90 ingredients are ‘chopped’ and freshly dressed into unique salad bowls or sealed savoury wraps. In June 2018, Mount Charles agreed an exclusive area development contract to rollout Freshly Chopped across Northern Ireland and Donegal. Six high-end, standalone Freshly Chopped outlets will be opened across Northern Ireland in the next three years, with the flagship store due to open in Donegall Square West this December. Trevor Annon, founder and Chairman of Mount Charles said: “We are delighted to launch Belfast’s first Freshly Chopped restaurant. We have been working closely with the Ulster University to deliver an extensive rage of delicious and healthy eating choices for their students. “Consumers want a great tasting meal that is healthy, delicious and fresh so we are providing a wide variety of vegetables and protein options, seasonality in what’s offered and locally grown produce where possible.”

Amanda Castray, Director of Campus Life at Ulster University welcomed the addition to the Belfast campus: “With the student experience at the heart of our planning, we welcome Freshly Chopped and its innovative menu to the Belfast campus. The range of fresh and nutritious food and drinks, served fast has received great feedback from the students and staff alike.” Mr Annon added: “We’ve had an extremely busy service here today and would welcome students, professionals and shoppers alike to come along and experience our fantastic salads and wraps for themselves. We are very much looking forward to a successful roll out of our Freshly Chopped restaurants across Northern Ireland and Donegal.” Freshly Chopped was developed to meet the needs of the growing number of Irish consumers who want a great tasting meal that is healthy, delicious, and fresh. Full calories are counted for each salad, wrap and sandwich and Freshly Chopped offers a delivery, collection, take-away and dine-in service, with fast meal service times.
