The Mount Charles Group has won the coveted Public Service Buildings Award at the 2015 Kimberley-Clark Professional Golden Service Cleaning Awards, held in the London Hilton Park Lane on 23rd October.

Created in 1991, the biennial Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Awards are today seen as a hallmark for quality and excellence, and a benchmark for contract cleaning companies and in-house cleaning teams.

Mount Charles, one of Northern Ireland’s leading providers of professional cleaning services, was awarded the accolade for the quality of their work at the iconic Titanic Belfast, a contract that they’ve held since the building opened in March 2012.

Titanic Belfast is a significant public building with multiple uses; it includes nine interpretive and interactive galleries that explore the sights, sounds, smells and stories of Titanic, with multiple dimensions including a dark ride, the Ocean Exploration Centre, recreations of the ship’s decks and cabins as well as luxurious conference and banqueting suites with capacity for up to 2,000 people.

Cathal Geoghegan, Managing Director of The Mount Charles Group said: “We are delighted to be recognised amongst the very best of the UK’s professional cleaning service providers, and to be the only company from Northern Ireland to win one of these high profile industry awards this year.

“We’re very proud of the work we carry out at Titanic Belfast, which is something of a landmark contract. When you consider the number of visitors passing through on a daily basis, the sheer size of the building and the valuable artifacts it contains, you can imagine the scale and intricacies of the cleaning operation, not to mention the highest possible professional standards required.

“The cleaning division at the Mount Charles Group has grown incredibly quickly since it was conceived in 2010. From a modest base, it now makes a considerable contribution to the overall business, with annual revenue of more than £5 million.

“This is a good opportunity for me to thank our Director of Cleaning and Support Services, Jonathan McKinlay and indeed his team for their hard work and commitment to excellence,” Mr Geoghegan added.

Judith Owens, Deputy CEO at Titanic Belfast added: “The cleaning service provided to us by the Mount Charles Group is exemplary. Titanic Belfast is a five star visitor attraction that welcomes thousands of visitors from across the world every week.

“A well maintained, clean environment is paramount in creating a great first impression for all those visitors, and the Mount Charles Group never fails to clean the building to the highest standard, often going the extra mile to ensure our needs are met. This award is certainly well deserved, our congratulations go to the entire team,” she said.

“Congratulations to this very worthy and deserving winner in what has been the most successful and prestigious Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Awards to date,” said Dr Louise Vickerman, UK Marketing Manager, Kimberly-Clark Professional. “We had more companies than ever entering and more sponsors than previous years and thank The Mount Charles Group for their excellent and detailed entry which highlights exactly the innovation and dedication these awards recognise.”

Over 500 professionals from small, medium and large contract cleaning firms and in-house teams, as well as local authorities and hospitals attended the Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Awards.
