The company’s key objective is to “transform waste, whether it is domestic or commercial, into a sustainable solution,” and in the process, protect the planet.

By investing heavily in new technology, Re-Gen Waste is capable of producing high quality materials that would have been unachievable a few years ago. They are actually developing the processing equipment of the future - to ensure that their materials surpass quality regulations.

The company added both mixed paper and glass lines in 2017 with a re-investment of £15 million. By the end of 2017, 1.5million tonnes of MDR (newspapers, mixed paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, steel and aluminium cans and glass, had been processed. In 2019 Re-Gen Waste announced a £5m expansion of its existing processing facility to produce a high specification replacement for traditional fossil fuels that can be used in power stations and cement kilns.

The company operates its purpose-built installation 24 hours a day and has processed nearly 2.5 million tonnes of waste to date.

Re-Gen employs 240 staff across a wide range of disciplines and operations include Waste to Energy (WtE), Mixed Dry Recycling (MDR) processing, Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing and engineering.

Initially established to deliver an MDR (paper, cardboard, tins and plastic) processing service for the local council, Re-Gen now provides this service for Local Authorities across Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

In the UK and Ireland, Re-Gen has found that the co-mingled system (plastic, glass, paper, card, tins and cardboard) in blue bins works brilliantly for the local councils it serves, as well as offering householders the most convenient and environmentally friendly way to recycle.

Local authorities are zoning in on the cost of their waste and recycling service, which can account for up to half their annual budget. Councils are now recognising the need to encourage the maximum number of people to recycle the maximum volume of material, so it is diverted away from landfill.

Residents are demanding household friendly co-mingling schemes as opposed to pre-sort schemes which are actually increasing dry recycling performance and improving Councils’ recycling rates.

Re-Gen currently processes over 300,000 tonnes of household waste annually.
